Increased Copays for Seniors and Non-Group Coverage
The Alberta Government announced changes to the co-pay portion that Seniors and individuals with Non-Group coverage pay. Starting July 1, 2025, the copay maximum will increase by $1 every month until the maximum limit reaches $35 in April of 2026.
RxA learned about the changes this past Tuesday when the Alberta Government announced the changes in their media release. An Alberta Blue Cross Benefact was sent to pharmacies Tuesday evening describing the changes. RxA has asked Alberta Health to inform Seniors and individuals with Non-Group coverage about their plan changes by letter mail, but currently there is no plan to do so that we are aware of. Pharmacists do not need to be the messenger about changes to Government’s drug programs.
