OVERVIEW:
Alberta Blue Cross® has an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist to apply clinical knowledge and skills to a variety of processes we have in place to meet the needs of our customers. The primary focus will be on pharmaceutical and disease state knowledge to support the determination of drug eligibility via special authorization. Pharmacists also provide valuable support to Drug Review Committee in reviewing drug products and providing listing/drug management recommendations. This position will appeal to motivated and enthusiastic team players who are looking for different ways to apply their superior communication and organizational skills in a non-traditional clinical setting.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- A Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy, a minimum of three years’ experience in a hospital or community pharmacy and a license to practice in Alberta.
- Strong clinical skills, good attention to detail, and a commitment to quality customer experience are required for success in this position and will be critical selection factors.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office is required (i.e. Word, Excel, and preferably Access).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, presentation skills, and experience with drug utilization/claims profile reviews and in the areas of pharmaco-economic and pharmaco-epidemiologic assessment would be definite assets.

COVID-19 Vaccination Notice: Alberta Blue Cross® has a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that applies to all of its employees. As a condition of employment, successful job applicants will be asked to: (a) confirm their COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof they are fully vaccinated*, OR (b) produce a valid negative COVID-19 test** on an ongoing basis, at their cost, completed within 72 hours of working at any Alberta Blue Cross workplace starting December 15, 2021. *Fully vaccinated means having received all of the recommended number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, or a combination of COVID-19 vaccines, approved by Health Canada to produce an immune response to COVID-19 (i.e., at least two doses of a two-dose vaccine, or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) and at least 14 days have lapsed since the date on which the person received the last of the recommended doses.
**Heath Canada approved tests (PCR and point of care antigen test) administered by a health care professional (at home test kits are not acceptable).
