Job Description
Mint is currently seeking one full-time and one part-time pharmacist for the COVID Emergency Isolation Site community project.
Key provincial and municipal stakeholders created a centralized isolation and quarantine facility, through the Calgary Drop-In Centre, to help the city’s most vulnerable populations during a time of crisis. This project is referred to as the COVID Emergency Isolation Site.
A trauma-informed, client centred approach to care will be utilized by the Mint COVID Response Team. This position does not require direct patient contact. This position involves a lot of clinical work and requires working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Safe and efficient dispensing will be supported by our Mint Health + Drugs pharmacies in Calgary.
This is a great opportunity for a pharmacist who wishes to work as part of a concerted multidisciplinary effort to help the most vulnerable in Calgary, making a difference on the front line with the fight against COVID . You must be able to work 7 days a week during day and evening shifts. Immediate availability is required.
Although listed as temporary, there is potential for full-time.
The successful candidate will be responsible for medication management, continuity of care, clinical work, relationship building with patients and hold the following credentials:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
- A member in good standing of the college of pharmacists, including a valid license
- Additional Prescribing Authorization
- Demonstrated experience with vulnerable populations
Qualifications and Skills:
- Computer proficiency with Word, Excel spreadsheets, Kroll, Netcare, and other database programs.
- Experience with the MedAccess EMR system is a definite asset.
- Open minded, out of the box thinking required for problem solving and decision-making.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially those managing addiction issues and mental illness.
- Clinically focused, with the ability to follow and improve processes.
- Additional prescribing authorization is mandatory.
- Very strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Communicates effectively at all levels.
- Takes initiative and exercises independent judgment.
- Very strong attention to details.
- Accepts and responds to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, in particular with physicians and nurses.
- Abide by safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE, when necessary.
