Clinical Pharmacist (full-time, temporary 12-18 months with potential for permanent)

The Opportunity:

Well and Truly RX is looking to establish itself as the premier pharmacy in Alberta by offering its clients the highest levels of service and pharmacy care. We are focusing on maximizing the scope of practice of pharmacists and technicians.  By utilizing clinical skills, we provide extensive care in managing complex and chronic diseases, providing travel medicine and smoking cessation consults. The goal is for pharmacists to have little or no role in the technical side of pharmacy. Pharmacists in this role will report to the Director of Pharmacy Services.

 

The clinical pharmacist will work as a part of our pharmacy team and will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Reviews prescriptions to evaluate their safety and efficacy.
  • Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Performs services to the full scope of practice including CACP, SMMA, injections and providing prescribing services.
  • Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, care plans, prescribing documentation and vaccination records.
  • Provides specialized services to help patients manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
  • Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
  • Work as a preceptor to pharmacy students in the application of services in community pharmacy.
  • Adhering to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.

 

Qualifications

  • Active license with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Additional Prescribing Authorization
  • Certified to Administer Drugs by Injection
  • Current first aid
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior customer service skills and a strong sense of professionalism
  • Independent thinking and problem-solving skills

 

Assets

  • Experience in performing professional services
  • Certified Diabetes Educator
  • Certificate in Travel Health
  • Experience in virtual consultation services
  • Working knowledge of Kroll and Kroll workflow

 

Salary and Benefits

Work Hours: 40 per week (Monday to Friday 8 am-4 pm)

Benefits: Competitive benefits including RRSP matching and 4 weeks’ holidays to start

Salary: Commensurate with skills and experience ($49-$55/hr)
