2026 Excellence in Patient Care Award: Jasnit Dhindsa

Jasnit Dhindsa
ARx Pharmacy & Homecare

At the heart of Jasnit Dhindsa’s pharmacy practice is an unwavering belief that every patient deserves to feel safe, respected, and genuinely supported. Over the past year, her dedication to patient care has extended far beyond clinical excellence alone, shaping outcomes that have changed lives and strengthened trust in the healthcare system for some of Alberta’s most vulnerable patients.

Practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist at ARx Pharmacy & Homecare, Jasnit delivers care that is deeply personalized and grounded in advanced clinical knowledge. Her expertise in mental health and addiction medicine allows her to manage complex medication regimens with confidence and precision, while her thoughtful, patient-specific approach ensures that treatment plans remain realistic, sustainable, and aligned with individual goals. She consistently applies evidence-based therapy while adapting care to account for trauma histories, social determinants of health, and fluctuating readiness for change.

Jasnit’s patient interactions are defined by time, presence, and follow-through. She does not rush conversations or treat care as transactional. Instead, she builds enduring therapeutic relationships that allow patients to engage openly, ask questions, and participate actively in their care. Patients frequently describe feeling understood and empowered—often for the first time. One patient reflected, “She stayed involved, checked in regularly, and helped us navigate a system that felt overwhelming.” This continuity has led to improved medication adherence, reduced crisis events, and increased confidence in managing chronic conditions.

A defining feature of Jasnit’s practice is her commitment to stigma-free, trauma-informed care. She works extensively with individuals affected by addiction, mental illness, and social marginalization, providing support that prioritizes dignity and autonomy. Jasnit recognizes that healing requires more than prescriptions; it requires advocacy. She routinely addresses barriers related to access, affordability, language, and care coordination, ensuring patients are not left to navigate complex systems alone.

Her impact is also evident within interdisciplinary care teams. Jasnit collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, offering clear, timely recommendations and ongoing monitoring that strengthen shared decision-making. Her colleagues value her insight, reliability, and ability to translate complex pharmacotherapy into practical, patient-centered solutions. As one physician noted, “Her patients trust her implicitly, and that trust changes outcomes.”
