The pharmacy team at Copperfield Pharmasave exemplifies the power of collaboration, innovation, and full-scope pharmacy practice to improve community health. Through a shared commitment to patient-centered care and an intentional team-based approach, this multidisciplinary group has built a model of practice that delivers meaningful, measurable impact for individuals and families across Southeast Calgary.
The Copperfield Pharmasave team includes pharmacists Allan Rajesky, Hollie Neilson, Bilal Hatoum, Melissa Karakochuk, Nisma Shaukat, and Melanie Zunti; pharmacy technicians Kortney Stanley, Jaycee Beaudoin, Cedric Santiano, and Gwen Pagente; and pharmacy assistants Cheryl Ashton, Nick Eisnor, Maja Stupar, Kate Facistol, Jasmine Logarta, Anumeet Kaur, and Berna Asuncion. Together, they function as a highly integrated care team where each member contributes specialized expertise while working toward shared goals.
Founded more than a decade ago by Allan Rajesky, Copperfield Pharmasave was established with a clear vision: to prioritize professional services and clinical care over prescription volume. That vision is reflected in the pharmacy’s structure today, including approximately 80 hours of pharmacist overlap each week dedicated exclusively to patient care services. This allows the team to fully leverage advanced prescribing, injections, comprehensive care plans, and ongoing follow-up.
Collaboration is central to how care is delivered. Each pharmacist leads a focused area of practice, including diabetes education, respiratory care, travel medicine, compounding, and metabolic health. Five of the six pharmacists hold Additional Prescribing Authority, all are injection-certified, and pharmacy technicians are actively supported in practicing to their full scope. This coordinated approach ensures timely access, continuity, and high-quality clinical decision-making for patients.
Patients consistently describe the Copperfield Pharmasave team as knowledgeable, compassionate, and deeply invested in their wellbeing. One patient shared, “ALL the staff are pleasant, kind and knowledgeable. I never feel rushed when I am speaking to the staff… I have used other pharmacies in the area and this one is the best.” Another noted, “They truly listened, showed genuine care and treated me with such kindness and compassion. It’s rare to feel so heard and supported.” These experiences reflect the trust the team has built within their community.
Beyond individual patient care, the team has demonstrated leadership in addressing broader public health needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Copperfield Pharmasave rapidly adapted workflows to provide asymptomatic PCR testing, delivering approximately 5,000 tests in an eight-week period. The team has also consistently exceeded provincial averages for influenza and COVID vaccinations, administering more than 10,000 vaccines over the past decade while maintaining regular pharmacy operations.
Copperfield Pharmasave offers a breadth of services rarely seen within a single community pharmacy, including a Level C compounding laboratory serving patients and pharmacies across Alberta, a specialty pharmacy division, a high-volume travel clinic, a pharmacist care clinic operating seven days a week, and a large home health care section. These services are supported by strong collaboration with physicians, clinics, and community partners, reinforced through ongoing education and outreach.
Through shared leadership, full-scope practice, and an unwavering commitment to collaboration, the Copperfield Pharmasave pharmacy team demonstrates the very best of what pharmacy can offer. Their collective impact on patient outcomes, access to care, and community wellbeing exemplifies the intent and legacy of the W.L. Boddy Pharmacy Team Award.
