Through the ENVIRx Program, year round, pharmacists promote safe and effective drug use while giving Albertans an opportunity to return unused and expired medications and sharps to their community pharmacy. These medications and sharps are collected by pharmacies and destroyed in an environmentally friendly manner.

The ENVIRx Program is exclusive to RxA members.

ENVIRx Program 2025–2026

ENVIRx 2 Containers –$135.00 Entitles pharmacies to 2 containers (medications/sharps combined) per year. This option is ideal for new pharmacies or stores with a lower volume of sharps and unused medications. Additional pails over and above the two are priced at RxA member pricing.

ENVIRx 6 Containers –$225.00 Entitles pharmacies to 6 containers (medications/sharps combined) per year. This option is ideal for new pharmacies or stores with a medium volume of sharps and unused medications. Additional pails over and above the six are priced at RxA member pricing.

ENVIRx 20 Containers – $675.00 Entitles pharmacies to 20 containers (medications/sharps combined) per year. This option is ideal for pharmacies that collect a higher volume of sharps and unused medications. Additional pails over and above the twenty are priced at RxA member pricing.

Each pharmacy is only eligible to purchase one ENVIRx option annually with a pharmacist membership and remains linked to the store for the membership year.
