Job Description – Full or Part time Pharmacist – 20 -40 hours per week

We at Gail’s Apothecary have embraced the expanded scope of practice for community pharmacists in Alberta and are seeking our next team member:

Your clinical community pharmacist duties will include but are not limited to:

• Dispensing of prescription medications ensuring accuracy, patient care, intervention documentation and dialogue
• Performing medication reviews and medication management services as per the provincial standards
• Influencing creative solutions to assist patients meet their health care goals through counseling, specialty compounding options, diet, lifestyle, nutrition and supplementation
• Working collaboratively with patients’ physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure positive drug therapy outcomes
• Conducting immunization clinics and providing injections
• Establishing specialized care for pain management, hormone replacement, GI disorders, dental support and even veterinary medicine through customized compounding patient specific solutions
• Patient counseling on selection and use of non-prescription medication
• Ensuring accurate pharmacotherapy
• Overseeing the compounding of prescribed pharmaceutical products
• Advising patients and health care professionals on the indications, contra-indications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage of medications
• Maintaining medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs
• Ensuring proper preparation, packaging, distribution and storage of vaccines, serums, biologicals and other drugs and pharmaceuticals.
• Conducting health screening clinics
• Engaging in community outreach programs
• Applying full scope of practice as a clinical pharmacist in Alberta

Requirements:

• Licensed and in good standing with Alberta College of Pharmacy
• Strong sense of professionalism
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem solving skills
• Superior patient and physician relation skills
• Injection Certification
• Excellent leadership and performance management skills an asset
• Additional accreditation such as a CDE or a Geriatric Pharmacist an asset
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Working experience with Kroll Pharmacy dispensing software an asset
• An interest in HRT counseling, thyroid disorders, and functional medicine an asset
• Additional Prescribing Authority a definite asset but not required
• Experience with compounding a definite asset but not required
• New grads are welcome to apply
