Patients First: A Practical Approach to Implementing Opioid Assessment into Practice

In response to the ongoing opioid crisis, ACP developed new Opioid Guidelines to support and direct pharmacists when assessing patients who use opioid medications.

Opioid medications potentially pose a significant hazard to patients and to the public and, in addition to pain management, pharmacists must be prepared to deal with the possibility of addiction, misuse and drug diversion.

Together, RxA and ACP are hosting an opioid focused program aimed at helping pharmacists understand how to engage with a patient during an opioid assessment.

With Harm Reduction in mind, and using a case based approach alongside an interactive audience engagement platform, learners will develop strategies to assist them to engage patients in practice when assessing opioid medication use.
