Position Summary

The Pharmacy Manager ensures that the pharmacy operates according to company policy, profession standards and provincial and federal laws which govern the profession of pharmacy practice. The Pharmacy Manager ensures that internal and external day to day dispensary and clinical pharmacy duties are completed appropriately in order to achieve and exceed specified outcomes. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee pharmacy operations as well has pharmacy head office functions.

Accountabilities 

  • When the Pharmacy Manager is listed as the designated manager with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals they are responsible for complying with all applicable SCPP standards for designated managers
  • Responsible for overseeing all internal and externally based staff members associated with the pharmacy dispensary location
  • Ensure that day to day operations of the pharmacy dispensary are completed
  • Collaborate with company-wide internal senior team members for the review/development of company-wide initiatives and strategic vision
  • Foster and maintain relationships/partnerships with current clients to ensure high level of customer satisfaction
  • Support and collaborate with business development with regard to prospective clients
  • Manage pharmacy budgets, resources and labour
  • Promote the organization’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Manage KPIs to improve pharmacy efficiency
  • Ensure continuous quality improvement plan
  • Meet and evaluate offerings/services with external vendors and/or stakeholders
  • Responsible for overseeing, and completing as applicable, the scheduling of pharmacy staff members
  • Responsible for overseeing and documenting payroll and human resource related items as applicable
  • Oversee, direct and authorize inventory management
  • Oversees drug recalls with the pharmacy team members in this area
  • Review and/or complete root cause analysis and documentation of medication incident reports
  • Complete accountability agreements for applicable staff members
  • Oversee, monitor and maintain adequate staffing levels/ratios
  • Problem solve and participate in conflict/dispute resolution as required
  • Attend and participate in professional conferences, key stakeholder meetings and trade shows, when applicable
  • Oversee and coordinate influenza outbreak protocols
  • Be available for special pharmacy projects as required
  • Oversee and participate in pharmacy-related transition processes as required

Qualifications/Experience

  • Registration and in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (RPh)
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with persons of varying levels of professional expertise
  • Must be self-directed, requiring minimal supervision and the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Kroll, automated packaging and inspection machine software, Microsoft Office and all applicable eMAR platforms
  • Ability to remain unbiased when assigning tasks and resolving disputes
  • Business and financial acumen is an asset
  • Strong delegation skills
  • Availability outside of regular business hours as applicable
  • Must be highly organized and possess excellent time management skills
  • Must be skilled in critical thought processes and be able to prioritize appropriately
  • Must demonstrate initiative and creativity
  • Previous experience managing large and diverse teams
  • Motivated to achieve results that reflect a high standard of quality
  • Must demonstrate good listening skills and be adaptable to changes in job environment
