Description: 

Salary Range: $54.69 – 62.88 per hour (as per HSAA nine step scale)

Days: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday  Hours: 715-330 OR 745-400 OR 8-415 OR 815-430

Provides pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical care required in accordance with professional practice and standards. Promotes safe and appropriate use of drugs in resident care. Participates in the routine operation of the department on a daily basis. Compounds, dispenses and distributes medications and other pharmaceuticals to residents from prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists and other qualified practitioners. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university is required.
  • Must be registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
  • Membership in the following group is considered beneficial:
    • Pharmacists Association in Alberta
    • Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists
    • American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (Canadian Chapter)

Experience:

  • One year of institutional pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Computer experience is required.

Personal Competencies:

  • Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be capable of advanced learning in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Promotes, encourages and demonstrates excellent customer relations and consistently shows courtesy, caring, understanding, compassion and respect to residents, families, visitors, co-workers and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures; and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.
  • Reports any unsafe acts or conditions to the person in charge of the area and complies with safety and fire regulations and procedures.
